Book: Frequently Asked Questions

I have an idea for an Book, but don't know if the idea is any good, or even how to create and publish it.

That's exactly why you would want to work with someone with experience. You're in the right place!

How will we work on a book together?

You'll need to check out my Book Process page. And if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

How long does a book take?

That is a difficult question to answer. It depends on how far along you are in the book process, and your vision for your book. It is my experience that it takes on average three months to six months to self-publish a book.

I've spent more money on so-called gurus who haven't helped me or given me any information. Why should this be any different?

Me too!  The old bait and switch or the leader not really knowing the material is really frustrating. I've been there. I get it. Like you, I completely wish I had all of that money back. I'm here to be of service and help you create something that you can be proud of. So, if you aren't satisfied with the end results, please email me and let's talk about your needs. If I still can't help you, I'll give you half of your money back. I trust that you'll be diligent in doing the exercises provided, and honest in honoring the time I put into creating your book.

I would hate to work with someone who farms out the work. Will I be working directly with you?

I assure you. I want to get to know you as much as you want your book published. I will not be on some beach sipping cocktails while someone else is working on your book. You will get to ask questions of ME, not my assistant or a stand in, proxie person. We can even jump on Skype to talk about your book. I'm here for you...and if there are any cocktails involved, you will be invited as well. Be forewarned...there may be confetti throwing!

How do you know so much about publishing and creating books?

Ultimately, you'll have to follow your intuition on whether I'm the person you want to work with and the guide you need. Here are my street creds:

  •     I worked in publishing for 20+ years as an editor, writer, and creative manager.
  •     I've been writing and illustrating since I could hold a pencil.
  •     There are more than 100 books with my name on them.
  •     I am an award-winning author.
  •     I've been a judge for some of the top writing contests in the U.S.
  •     I know what it takes to make a book look and sound professional.

What kind of books do you specialize in?

I specialize in fiction and non-fiction. The genres are spirituality, self-help, earth medicine, myths and legends, and children's books.

Wow! Why are your prices so high?

My prices are aligned with industry standards. If you have been shopping around for a book designer, I will agree that there are some who will create a book for you for very cheap. I will also caution that you get what you pay for. I do not charge $200 for a personalized book design because I value my knowledge, my time, and my work.

If you feel that my prices are not aligned with your needs, we can do one of two things:

1. We can discuss your budget, and I can let you know how much can be accomplished for that price.

2. I can set up a payment schedule, like a layaway plan that you can begin paying on now to have your book designed in the future.

Contact me to discuss your needs.
